Apply yourself. Get all the education you can, but then, by God, do something. Don't just stand there, make it happen.

Robertson backed off his now famous — would that it were apocryphal — remark that the U.S. should assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. His exact quote from his Christian Broadcasting Network program was: "You know, I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he (Chavez) thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it."

As a result, Robertson is viewed in Latin America as having some degree of support within the Bush White House, said Michael Shifter, vice president of the Inter-American Dialogue think tank in Washington and a Chavez critic. "The way Robertson's declarations will play in Latin America is that Chavez is right and that the U.S. is out to get him," Shifter said.

iven court rulings that religious concepts ought not be forced down the throats of public-school kids, the preferred term these days is "intelligent design," not creationism. Apparently the courts have not yet figured out that's also code for God's design. (What other higher intelligence, according to ID proponents, could be responsible for such miraculous, complex designs as human beings?)
