Well, we've all had days like that. You think it might be a good idea to
"take someone out" when they're giving your country a hard time . . .
and then you recall that it's illegal, against U.S. policy and, well, a tad
un-Christian. Robertson, of course, is well known for his spontaneous foot
tastings. This is
the same man who has urged his flock to pray for a U.S. Supreme Court vacancy
"one way or the other."
"Mr. Robertson is no ordinary citizen," said Bernardo Alvarez,
Venezuela's ambassador to the United States. He "has been one of the
president's staunchest allies." Bush administration officials claim that Chavez backs "undemocratic"
radical movements in Bolivia and have hinted that he may have ties to Marxist
guerrillas in Colombia.
Some states, however, don't even need to use code words anymore, since they now
couch the authorization to teach creationism within the idea that local school
curricula may critically challenge the theory of evolution. Understandably, the idea that God had a hand in creating us is a very broad one.
It is a bedrock of most major religions as well as of Judeo-Christian thought.
