John Wayne's "The Alamo." the Documentary. Director/Camera/Editor. Behind-the-scenes archival portrait of John Wayne's struggles to tell the epic story of this classic Texas battle. In worldwide distribution by MGM Home Video. Finalist, South by Southwest Film and Video Conference, 1994.
Third Ward Blues, 1997. Documentary about Houston blues greats Albert Collins, "Gatemouth" Brown, Johnny Copeland and Joe "Guitar" Hughes. Co-producer, Cinematographer, Editor. Televised on PBS.
The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Documentary 1996. Prod/Cam/Ed. Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger get their first breaks as actors in this behind the scenes look at the making of a classic horror genre picture. River City Films.
The Last Days of Charles Kathryn. 1995 Documentary. Prod/Dir/Cam. Texas' most famous transvestite goes "under the knife." Award-winner, Sinking Creek Film Festival, Televised PBS.
The Death of Davy Crockett. 1993. Documentary. Director/Camera/ Editor. Mythic Alamo hero "bites the dust" in movies, novels and paintings. Produced with a grant from the Texas Committee for the Humanities.
To Put Away the Gods, 1989. Lacandon Mayan Chief struggles with intrusion of logging and technology on his people in jungles of Chiapas, Mexico. Co-Producer/Camera/Editor. Televised on PBS. Screened at Royal Anthropological Institute, London; Nordic Anthropological Film Fest, Norway. Produced with a grant from the Texas Committee for the Humanities.
Last Night at the Alamo, 1984. Feature Film. Cinematographer. Texas rednecks spend a last drunken night in their soon-to-be-demolished local bar, the "Alamo", named for Texas' most famous last stand. New York Film Festival,; Special Jury Prize, USA Film Festival (Sundance) Telluride, Berlin, Edinburgh and many other int'l film festivals. Released theatrically in U.S. and in U.K. by Alamo Films Ltd./Cinecom/ October Films.
Who Killed the 4th Ward? 1979. Documentary: 3 one-hour episodes. Co-director/Camera. Residents of Houston's oldest black neighborhood struggle to save their homes against the interests of City Hall and "big business". Televised on PBS.
