He pushed a button and the wall of curtains on one wall opened revealing

glass from ceiling to floor and from one wall to the other overlooking the sapphire

sea. She was stunned as she saw one bedroom wall become a solid glass wall.

He showed her a small dining off the master bedroom with a kitchen and on the

bar was a coffee pot with a pink bow on it. They left the bedroom and walked

down the hall to a dining room with a huge mahogany table and matching chairs.

The art on the wall was museum quality and complimented the bronze statuettes.

There was a bar on one side and on a bar with a red ribbon around it was a coffee

pot. She was introduced to the chefs and the waiters. Off the dining room was a

ballroom and the crystal chandeliers matched the ones in the dining and bedroom.

They went up stairs and there was an open air dining room outside on the

deck and there was a coffee pot with a sign that said “Welcome”

Kathryn laughed and said, “I get the message, this ship is beautiful absolutely

beautiful and I have a feeling I have only seen a small part of it.”

Edwin laughed and said, “You have only seen a small part of it, it has two

Olympic size pools. A few bars and a huge deck for dancing it’s a ship for international

entertaining. It’s taken to say Athens and you can throw a party for a few

thousand and it can transport about 1000 to Athens if necessary. It’s mostly used

for small parties of 500 or less. You know what I love about you is your as comfortable

and happy cooking me breakfast in the cottage as happy as you was staying

at Morales’s lush suites in Paris or Pierre’s penthouse. It doesn’t seem to make

any difference to you.”

Kathryn said, “It’s the people that make me happy not the environment. I

have had some great times in the back of gas stations with a bottle of beer and

order of enchiladas on the Mexican border. I guess I am easy to please. I am

impressed with you, remember when I first met you and I was with Shane. I

mean you two guys knew I was going to have my sex changed, I was still technically

a guy and yet you both offered to let me learn oral sex on ya’ll. That speaks

volume of a person great character.”

Edwin smiled and said, “You wasn’t even close to being a guy and we both

sensed it you may have had the parts but you were a woman. Why didn’t you

sleep with Shane, you were there about 4 or 5 days?”

Kathryn said, “We kissed a couple time, but you have something he doesn’t

and don’t ask me what is, why does someone date somebody for a year then

meets someone else and marries them in two months. I don’t think everything

could or should be explained or understood I think there should be a certain

amount of unknown in life.”

Edwin laughed and said, “That’s what I love about you. You’re in this intricate

situation and you and every one around you including a bunch of rich dangerous

people, gays, straights and me sees it as some simple life as this is just the

way it should be.”

Kathryn said, “We should rent this ship for a charity party at the great camel

race.”

Edwin laughed and said, “Anybody can enter right as long as they have the

entrance fee. You want to have lunch on the deck?”

“Right and the deck will be great.”

After platters of seafood, they donned there swim wear and they stopped in little

coves and swim, he had the captain get the snorkel gear and he launched a

dingy. They went hand in hand as they explored a little port. They boarded the

ship and as the sun was losing its brightness they anchored off the coast of Corsica.

Sitting on the deck having a drink watching the sun go down he pointed to

the West sky and in the far distance the storm clouds gathered and the lightening

streaked in the clouds. In complete darkness the sky was bright with the moon

and stars and it was if the storm clouds were holding back, The stereo played soft

music and they danced on the deck and right before the clock chimed twelve the

chef served them dinner. She excused herself and she went to their bedroom

showered and changed into her gown and robe and went back on deck for a night

cap. There were making out on a couch when a clap of thunder made her scream

and jump and a brawny cold wind blew across them he picked her up in his arms

and as he almost reached the door, lighting cracked and a deluge covered them.

Laughingly they got in the door soaked, he carried her to the bedroom and he

removed there wet clothes. They lay on the bed staring out the glass wall at the

waves and the rain hitting the glass and every once in a while a bolt of lighting.

Edwin laughed and said, “It’s bizarre isn’t it?”

Kathryn laughed and said, “It’s like we’re in the storm.”

He pushed a button by the bed and the ceiling started retracting and revealed

a glass ceiling and the raindrops were drumming it and it was like the storm was

above and at their side.

Kathryn laughed and said, “I am glad it didn’t reveal mirrors, it’s beautiful,

and it’s like your playboy gadget.”

“If there was not a storm it has retractable roof so we would be under the

stars.”

They looked in each others eyes and Kathryn smiled and kissed him and with

the storm raging they made tender love in rhythm with the storm. In the dark

they lay and the flashing lighting exposed there glistening sweaty bodies and they

lay in each others arms staring at the storm.

Kathryn laughed and said, “I love storms they have so much energy and it’s

like we’re watching it on TV.”

“Like IMAX only real, I love storms and this is one great storm.”

The storm passed over and they showered and she put on a clean gown and

they lay wrapped in each others arms and slept. She was putting on her eyes the

next morning when he came in and kissed her.

The first mate drove them to a dock, they ran and they ran into the surf and

they held hands and kissed and they ran some more. They boarded the boat and

as the first mate drove them back to the ship.

Kathryn laughed and said, “You are the only thing than smells cleaner than

this air is you. The rain really cleaned the air. The whole world smells so good.”

“Your right, only nature can make the smell of a good rain. Would you like to

go see Corsica while we’re here?”

They went to Corsica and explored the island and at a small sidewalk café had

lunch and about mid afternoon went back to the ship and it pulled anchor and

from the bridge they watched the ships wake as it plowed into the Ligurian Sea.

Kathryn said, “I need to call my office. Hi, anything going on, OK let me talk

to GR?”

GR said, “Where are you? Morales needs you to call him it’s urgent. Every

thing is fine here, when will you be home? Do you have a good alibi another of

the county task forces car was bombed.”

“Off Corsica, that should be a good alibi, I’ll be home Monday and I’ll call

Morales.”

Morales said, “I need a favor, I need you to got to a meeting for me it’s very

important.”

Kathryn laughed and said, “Morales, you know how you chase women, I was

in a bed on a ship that had a glass retractable roof now is that impressive. I’ll go to

a meeting for you, I be home Monday, Why can’t you go?”

Morales said, “I broke my leg on a fall from a horse I will send the plane to

pick you up, the meeting is Saturday.”

She laughingly teased him saying, “Where were you’re guards when the horse

bucked? Where is the meeting?”

“It’s right outside Libya.”

Kathryn said, “Like the African country Libya? I am an American citizen I

can’t go to Libya.”

Morales laughed and said, “Yes you can go on a Mexican passport, but you

won’t need a passport. You just stand there like you have seen me doing it and

the guys will do everything else. I know what you’re thinking and none of the

guys can do it. It would be an insult not to deal with the top. Do you want Ken

and Richard to come?”

“No, it’s no use all of us getting killed. I will do this for you and if I get hurt

you know them little machine guns the guys carry, you better keep one by your

side, I will come after you and you can kill yourself.”

Morales laughed and said, “Honey, you won’t get hurt, maybe killed and

besides you wouldn’t hurt me. Where will you be Saturday morning and who are

you with you sound happy? Are you enjoying being a woman?”

Kathryn laughed and said, “I am with Edwin and I am extremely joyful, and I

am enjoying it and I don’t know where you can pick me up. Edwin will deliver

me to the Milan airport, if the meeting is noon; I’ll be there at 6:00 A. M. good

enough and nothing better happen to me. I know you won’t put me in danger.

Will you be alright for the camel race next month? Good I have to run.”

Edwin said, “You’re going to Libya for Morales and close an arms deal?”

Kathryn laughed and said, “It’s not really like that, I have been with him on a

few deals and the deal is done all I have to do is deliver the merchandise and

pickup the money. The guys really do everything I will just be a figure head. We

have been long time amigos and he would do the same for me and trust me he

would never put me in danger.”

Edwin laughed and said, “You want to go dancing tonight we only have two

more nights till you have to leave on your arms deal. I better be careful, you arms

dealers are dangerous.”

Kathryn giggled and said, “I am not dangerous.”

Edwin laughed and said, “Tomorrow will be off Genoa and I want to show

you the city and we can sleep on the ship. You were in Pierre’s penthouse; you

have been at two cottages and now the ship, which did you like the best?”

“There are no best; they are all equal in different ways.” She replied.

“We should dress for tonight, I’ll were a suit and pack an overnight case in

case we get stuck.”

In a short dress and heels the first mate helped her into the speed launch, Edwin

took the wheel and they laughed as he drove it at full power, the speed seemed to

charge them up. They were having drinks as the limo drove them down a lane

and as she looked out the window there were little orchards and farms and after

about a half hour they drove steady going up hill and then through a thick forest

they arrived at a mansion-castle with stone turrets. The mansion up on a mountain

faced the sea as they pulled up a man opened her door and offered his hand

and she was helped out he joined her and she took his arm and the man opened

the door. They walked into a room filled with well dressed people and she

thought this must be where the beautiful people hang out. Edwin took her

around the room and introduced her and the huge diamonds these people wore

stunned her. He took her upstairs and showed her a bedroom on the top floor,

there clothes were unpacked and hung in the closets and it had ceiling to floor

windows overlooking the sea with huge chandeliers. The other end also had ceiling

to floor windows and looked down a valley with mountains on both sides. It

looked like the valley went straight down. She excused herself and went to the

powder room and wondered if she had ever seen chandeliers in one. He knew she

was impressed and they went back down stairs to join the others and she was

introduced to a tall handsome man named Paul.

Paul smiled and said, “Kathryn, you’re from Texas, what type business are you

in?”

Edwin laughed and said, “She’s an international arms dealer, she buys and sells

arms to Libya.”

“Well, you certainly will fit in with this crowd. You have to be one of the prettiest

dealers I have ever seen. How do like the castle?” Paul said.

Kathryn laughed and said, “He is joking; I have a construction supply company

in Houston is this your castle?”

Paul laughed and said, “No, it’s not mine do you have a camel in the race?

That’s the reason you’re so tall.”

“I have the winner camel in the race, do you have one entered?”

“Not yet, but I have looked at a couple and serious considering it. That’s a big

prize; I hear there maybe a 100 entered.”

Kathryn laughed and said, “I don’t know the dead line to enter is a week

before the race and a lot of people won’t enter till then, me included there is no

use letting a million sit there, I can draw interest to help feed the Bedouins.”

“You have Bedouins on your ranch to train your camel?”

Kathryn smiled and said, “Yes, they train the camels at the ranch and only eat

these Middle East goats. They won’t eat Texas goats and Morales sent me some

Mexican goats and they won’t eat them.”

Paul laughed and said, “That’s funny, is that Morales from Mexico?”

“Yes, he is my great long time friend. Do you know him?”

Paul smiled and said, “We met a few times, you be careful around him he’s

dangerous and Kathryn this is Count Hans Schmidt.”

Count Schmidt kissed her hand and laughed and said, “Kathryn, please skip

the formal titles you can call me you’re Excellency, just kidding call me Hans.”

Paul said, “We’re talking about her friend Morales and the great camel race.

Are you entertaining an ideal of entering a camel?”

Edwin laughed and said, “We’re a half world away from Texas and everyone is

talking about the camel race, come dear, I want to show you something.”

Hans smiled and said, “May I have the honor of a dance before you go?”

Kathryn laughed curtsied and said, “Of course your Excellency, a Texas peasant

could not turn down a royal demand from a Count of royal blood.”

They went to the dance floor and Hans laughed and said, “You have a great

since of humor, I see why Edwin is really fond of you, it’s been a while since he

has been this in high spirits. Have you ever been to the Austrian ball?”

“Is that like line dancing or Texas two steps? I have rittered danced in Austin,

Texas”

Hans laughed and said, “I do know line dancing and consider sitting in my

box at next years ball.”

Kathryn laughed and said, “I’ll be there Hans and ya’ll come to Texas and see

my ranch La Demasiado and enter the camel race, we Texas peasants like Royalty’s

money.”

He escorted her back to Edwin and they decided to get a plate and go to the

buffet she was informed the wild boar, the red stag, the truffles and the grouse

was from the castle grounds. After a night of partying and dancing they went to

there bedroom. He woke her up the next morning with a kiss and a cup of coffee

about 5:30 and they went to the table by the windows that overlooked the valley.

It appeared as a little rim of red and as the sun slowly rose it seemed to engulf the

whole valley, it was like the valley was afire, and it was the most spectacular sight

she had seen. The sun rose and they put on there running clothes and ran in the

valley.

Kathryn huffing said, “What happened to my lungs? I am out of air.”

Edwin puffing smiled and said, “We need to slow down it’s the altitude we’re

up pretty high. Why don’t we finish the run and eat breakfast on the ship.”

She nodded and they went back and showered, the maid packed there clothes

as she heard a chopper land, they went to a helio pad and there was a huge chopper

and Edwin pointed out the Royal crest on the side. There luggage was handed

to a copilot. They boarded the chopper and Hans greeted them and to satisfy her

curiosity explained it was 62 feet long and by 14 feet wide and the cabin height

was 7 feet and it cruised at 200mph and 500 mph with out refueling and could

seat 25 comfortable, but this one had couches. The Chopped lifted up and as the

castle quickly disappeared she saw the ship sitting in azure water as landed on the

helio pad of the ship, he shook Edwin’s hand and gave her a kiss and they disembarked

as the chopper took off and they walked over to the deck dining room and

were served breakfast.

Kathryn said, “You know sometimes it seems like a dream, from a castle, to a

Counts huge chopper to this huge ship in a matter of minutes. I never saw a

chopper like that and I have never been in a castle.”

Edwin laughed and said, “There are very few of them, the presidents and

heads of countries own them, there about $30 million. When you finish I want to

show you Genoa”

The first mate took them to the dock and holding hands, he showed her the

old city, and they sampled the catches from the sea teeming in the markets. He

bought her a plate of fried squids which they shared and they kissed and both of

them knew they didn’t want to live with out the other, they had truly fallen in

love and they realized they both had obligations and tonight they were both sadden

that it would be there last for a while and they seemed to be taking the love

energy from each other and storing it till they meet again, as if to tide them over.

They had lunch by the sea at an outdoor café. They went to a museum and finally

totally exhausted headed back to the ship at mid afternoon.

Kathryn smiled and said, “I have to be in Milan at 6 in the morning why can’t

they land here and we don’t have to get up in the middle of the night.”

“They can, we lost a day I wanted to be in Milan today and show you the city,

call Morales and tell him.”

Kathryn said, “Morales we lost a day can you pick me up in Genoa?”

Morales said, “Sure, are you still on the ship and can a chopper land on it?”

Kathryn laughed and said, “Yes, this huge chopper landed here and dropped

us off. Here is the phone number the pilot can find out our coordinates from the

captain. What! You want me to go to Africa Sunday on my way back, OK I will

be in Texas early Monday and I am glad your leg is healing and I rode in a 62

foot chopper and I slept in a castle.”

Morales said, “I owe you big time, honey tell Edwin and the count hello, did

you meet Saltineo at his castle?”

Kathryn laughed and said, “No, I meet a guy named Paul. I will see you next

week. Morales said to tell you and the count hello. He seems to know everyone.”

“I think he sold the chopper to the Count, you want to go swimming? You’re

going to Africa to sell arms, why not Iran and sell some plutonium or maybe you

could just fly into North Korea.”

Kathryn giggled and said, “Quit teasing me, I am doing a friend a favor.”

They entered the swimming pool and couldn’t keep their hands off each other

and as mid afternoon turned into sundown they were on the deck having drinks

and watching another spectacular sunset. They dined and he took her to the bedroom

and with the retractable roof open and the stars flickering and the salty

smell she gave herself to him completely and her took her. At 4:30 there was a

knock on the door and a waiter handed him a pot of coffee and tea. They dressed

and she packed her suitcase and heard the chopper land they made there way to

the helio pad as the waiter walked over to the chopper and handed her suitcase.

Edwin had on a raincoat with a hood as the drizzle was covering everything. They

kissed and hugged each other and they did it some more, they were both crying

and with the drizzle on there faces were completely soaked and she pulled away

and started to the chopper and in a short dress and heels she turned to Edwin and

he grabbed her as she almost slipped running toward him and he held her tight as

she sobbed and then she went to the chopper and smiled as Roberto got out the

chopper and helped her in. As the chopper blades revved up she smiled as tears

flowed down her cheeks Edwin blew her a kiss and the chopper took off into the

dark starless sky and as she sobbed no one said a word. Roberto put his arm

around her and comforted her as the rain pelted the chopper in a few minuets

they landed and under Legget’s umbrella they boarded the 47 and went to the

lounge and joined the other guys as they fasten the seat belt came on. They

quickly cleared out of the low mist clouds and into a bright sunny sky and it seem

to lift her spirits.

Legget said, “It must really be raining it’s done a number on your make up.”

Kathryn picked up a pillow and threw it at Legget laughed and said, “Thanks,

I needed to be insulted. I missed you guys and I am famished could we have

breakfast?”

Roberto said, “I don’t know what the rest of the time you spent with Edwin

was like, but if it was half erotic as that goodbye, I am surprised you not on a

stretcher, that was a huge yacht.”

“The bedroom had a retractable glass roof and glass wall and I slept in a castle.”

Roberto said, “Nobody can remember what this guy looks like.”

Kathryn smiled and with tears in her eyes and said, “Imagine the most sincere,

honest, caring, erotic and handsome man on the world and you have Edwin.”

Daro laughed and said, “What does he do? We brought you’re favorite breakfast

chorizos.”

Kathryn smiled and said, “I don’t know, he never said and I never asked. That

sounds so good, I haven’t had Mexican food since I saw you guys in Africa and I

left with Pierre. Where are we going and what do I need to do?”

Roberto laughed and said, “First thing is put on jeans. You can’t go in that

dress, we would have to slay them all to keep them away.”

Kathryn laughed and said, “Are you saying I don’t look good in jeans?”

They all laughed

Daro laughed and said, “We’re just going to deliver some merchandise to a

Sheik in the desert.”

Nator said, “I hate deserts, it takes weeks to get the sand out of your body, this

is just routine no danger what so ever.”

She looked up and noticed a fighter plane on each wing.

Roberto said, “We’re in Libya air space and we have an escort.”

She went to her suite changed clothes and lying on the bed she cried and then

realized she had to do this for Morales and she dried her eyes and went upstairs.

The guys were quite but noticed her red eyes and in a little while the fasten seat

belt came on and they landed on an airstrip completely surrounded by the desert

and to one side were huge extraordinary tents. Only Nator wore an ear phone

and nobody carried a gun. She gathers herself and adds a big smiled and walked

down the stairs to the tarmac. A group of men in robes and guns greeted them as

they walked over toward them. They were hand shakes and Kathryn was introduced.

They were escorted over to the tent and took off there shoes and enter this

elaborate tent with gold every where she was introduced to the Sheik and he

motioned for her to set on the cushion as green tea was poured and little snacks

were served under huge chandeliers, it was only him and her as everyone else was

standing. The two hit it off immediately and being educated in London spoke

perfect English and they talked about her camel and the big race an they were

served snacks and she heard the other plane land and Roberto collected the

money while Sheik and her talked about different people they knew. Roberto

caught her eye and signaled to leave and she apologized but they had to leave and

she invited him to La Demasiado. They walked out boarded the 47 and fasten

seat belt light came on and as they took off the jet fighters again were on the

wings.

Roberto smiled and said, “Perfect Kathryn, you did great.”

Kathryn smiled and said, “What was the big hurray to leave why we didn’t

stay longer?”

Legget said, “Its business, we don’t need to get to close as next week we might

sale his enemy something.”

Kathryn said, “That makes sense, where are we going? Edwin thinks I should

go to Iran and sell some plutonium.”

They guys looked at each other and laughed.

Roberto laughed and said, “Where ever you want, we have a few hours to kill,

you want to go meet Edwin?”

Tears swelled up in Kathryn’s eyes and said, “I can’t take another good by this

quick, this morning it ripped my heart out. If somebody had stuck there hand in

and pulled out my heart, the hurt was and still is horrific.”

Nator smiled and said, “We can’t help you, you will have to get through it,

you want to see Casablanca, it’s not far. The only problem it will be dark soon.”

Kathryn smiled and said, “Why not, let’s just not stay up late. I haven’t sleep

since I left you guys. Nator’s right I am going to take a shower, I feel like the sand

is even between my teeth.”

Legget laughed and said, “We can sleep late it’s just about a three hour flight

to our next destination and we don’t have to be there to two then home unless

you want to go to Iran.”

Kathryn looked puzzled and said, “Can we really get into Iran?”

Roberto laughed and said, “It’s a little out of the way, but I can make a call

and get us in.”

They arrived in Casablanca and took the top floor of the hotel with guards at

the elevators. There were only five suites and they each had one, they cleaned up

and they went to a little café that specialized in Moroccan goat and lamb. They

took three Moroccan guards and the place got quite and everybody stared as they

walked in they took a big table and ate and drink and they laughed and when

they finished they wondered around the city under a bright moon showing her

the sites around midnight they decided to take a car out to the desert and she was

astounded to see how the full moon lighted up the cold desert, they decided to

call it a night. Kathryn well aware of this is her first night with out Edwin cried

her self to sleep. She awoke about six the next morning and put on her running

clothes and walked out in the hall and the guards would not let her get on the elevator,

voices were raised and the guys came running out with pistols drawn. The

guard explained to Roberto in Arabic what was happening.

Kathryn said, “One of you guys shoot these guards.”

Roberto said, “You can’t go out there dressed like that.”

Everyone laughed

Legget laughed and said, “The religion teachers will hit your legs with

switches.”

Kathryn said, “I had a dress on last night and nobody bothered me, bring the

guns and go with me.”

Daro laughed and said, “You we’re with us, there is a gym in the hotel, I’ll get

dressed and go with you, and it’s really not safe to run in these streets even for us

and we have guns. The reason we took the guards last night in case of trouble

they can handle it they were cops. We don’t need to kill some people so we can

exercise we will be investigated and maybe thrown in jail and we can’t take care of

business this afternoon.”

Kathryn laughed and said, “Tell the guards I am sorry, I was BS about shooting

them. All right we will go to the gym.”

The sweat poured off her as she ran on the machine and then she swam like a

mad person and Daro knew she was getting the frustration out of her system, she

was punishing her body. She couldn’t hide the hurt of missing Edwin. At a little

café on the way to the 47 they ate Moroccan’s sweets and dates. In a clear blue

sky the seat belt light was turned off and everyone just relaxed. With tears swelling

in her eyes she decided she would go to her bedroom and take a nap. A half

hour before they landed Roberto walked up to the door and heard her sobbing

and knocked on the door. In about fifteen minuets she joined the guys in the bar

as they landed in the blistering sun and got into two choppers and below her the

unspoiled rain forest passed swiftly. As they landed in the clearing the dust covered

everything one of the choppers backfired and the pilot could fix it while they

were gone. In the sweltering sun she walked over shook hands with the chief and

as was the custom in this part of the world and gave him a gift and he smiled and

hugged her. The tanks escorted the trucks with two fighter choppers and they

took the third fighter chopper. The two choppers landed and secured the area

with the soldiers and took to the air hovering in case of trouble. They landed and

the guys put there ear phones and they walked toward a man and a bunch of soldiers.

Kathryn and the man shook hands and watched as the tanks and the trucks

rumbled in. They unloaded the trucks and Roberto meet the guy and counted

the diamonds and she shook the chief hands and they covered everyone with dust

as they lifted up. They flew back to the village and her and Legget gave the briefcase

to the chief and he explained the other chopper was broke down. They

decided to leave the chopper and pile into one. The sweat was pouring from them

as the chopper revved up to the RPMS needed to lift up and as they lifted up the

dust covered them. The thick rain forests was passing swiftly below when black

smoke erupted under the chopper started down and crashed into the green canopy

as the co-pilot was thrown out as the blade broke and spun off chopping him

in half. The chopper cascaded through the canopy resting about thirty feet from

the ground and about seventy feet from the top of the canopy. Miraculously the

pilot and co pilot were the only ones killed and no one else was hurt. Roberto

reached over to get the radio and it was dead. Nator knew there were ropes

behind the seats and unleashed one and repealed to the ground. Kathryn reached

over and got the pilots flight bag as she knew Nancy carried a compass and a flare

gun in hers. They made a sling and lowered her to the ground. They stripped

almost everything out of the chopper and took to the ground. They had some

miles. It might be best to build a fire and stay here till morning and get a fresh

and could track anything almost smell them.”
